Happy Self- Love Day!
Many people struggle with where to start when wanting to make changes in their life. People often feel trapped with no possible solutions towards positive change in their lives.
1. Relax and Eat Balanced Meals
I often remind my clients to relax and eat 3 balanced meals daily. You can’t possibly think of any plans when your not giving your body the nutrients it needs to think. I’ve witnessed people checking themselves in the emergency room due to having a mental breakdown but thankful just to get a break because their lives don’t allow them to get 7-9 hours of sleep. Mental Health Matter!
2. Consider going back to school or gaining certifications, even if it’s online
I often hear stories of people working long hours to take care of their households. If you continue
your education or gain a few certifications to increase your income, this will allow you to
have more time for yourself and your family. I understand your lives are already busy who has time for school? The advantage is you can get paid to go back to school but are you willing to plan your time? Not even for 1 class per quarter. The debt that comes with school also holds people back from continuing their education instead of realizing that the jobs the career will pay the least the minimum amount towards your student bill.
3. Remember the more you give to others, the more you will receive.
4. Self - Affirmations:
Get sticky notes and remind yourself of the great and strong person you are! Whether
it’s passing a class you never thought was possible, surviving abuse, surviving the loss of a loved one,
recovering from an addiction. Depression is real! It can sneak up on you. One day you’re having a great day
and the next day you are struggling to get out of bed. Use your affirmations to push through and understand
if you woke up to see another day then you clearly have a purpose that you need to fulfill.
5. Accepting your past, making peace, letting go of negativity, and keeping positive people around you:
In the midst of change, make sure the surrounding people are real, supportive, encouraging and positive. It’s hard to change when you continue to have toxicity and negativity around. Clinicians suggest you find a new crowd to hang around and to stay away or set boundaries with the social circles that led to your addictions.
