How to Heal from Trauma
Are you continuing to hold on to disturbing experiences that have happened to you or you have witnessed? Are you struggling with moving forward and living a more quality life?
The Most Efficient Way to Heal from Trauma
The most efficient way to heal from trauma is through exposure. This involves talking and reflecting on painful memories. Understand that this takes time. I suggest you talk to a professional to help peel back these layers for validation, interactive feedback, and support. To help remind you of your strength, remind you that you are still alive, that you have a purpose on earth, and surviving that traumatic experience can be used to help others. Instill those positive lessons you learned from those experiences into your children appropriately so that they are also strong while growing and being exposed to the world around them. Support systems ( friends, family, community groups, etc.) can help you come out of that turmoil you have surrounding those memories.
Instead of suppressing feelings until you are able to trust someone to talk about your situation, try journaling about your different experiences. Disassociation and psychotic behaviors have been associated with suppressing highly stressful events. After journaling and reflecting on the trauma, make sure you engage in any positive activity that can lift your mood.
